Such a pleasant experience, super friendly staff, easy check in process (and staff on the floor to help if needed), super conveniently located as we only had a one night stop and early train to catch. And the little lunch box surprise for the kid was very very much appreciated

Wuppertal is an unusual city, due to the topography along...
Wuppertal is an unusual city, due to the topography along the river Wupper. A unique feature is the mono-rail public transport system - Schwebebahn - which travels along and above the river - a unique public transport experience, and very efficient way to traverse this elongated city comprising several centres (due to merger of previously independent towns along the river). Schwebebahn is of key interest to anyone interested in railways of any type, and urban architecture, and a great experience.
Wuppertal was a centre of early industrialisation in Germany in the 19th century (often called 'German Manchester'), and interesting historically from that perspective. Due to heavy bombing during WWII, many original buildings were damaged and lost, but there are some remaining quarters like Luisenviertel which preserve the architecture and atmosphere of Wuppertal's haydays during the Wilhelminian period.
The Engels-Haus is the original family home of Friedrich Engels, and well worth a visit. Hopefully the Museum for early industrial history which is currently being refurbished will re-open in 2025, and that will then be well worth a visit to learn more about that important period and industrial activities in Elberfeld and Barmen in particular.

I am very disappointed with this hotel.
I am very disappointed with this hotel. I arrived at 0.30 a.m. and the hotel was closed and no one opened for me. It was not stated on booking.com or on the hotel's website that the reception is closed from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. and it is not possible to check in. It was also stated on the website that it is possible to cancel the reservation free of charge, but they charged me 49 euros for nothing and I had to find another hotel in the night and pay for it!. Very unprofessional service!

Wuppertal is a beautifull city surrounded by hills.
Wuppertal is a beautifull city surrounded by hills. The city is mostly known for the Schwebebahn. A hanging train that goes through the city as a metro but hangs mostly above the Wupper river. The city center is large and offers a lot of nice stores and restaurants.
Located next to Wuppertal is Solingen a city known for the Haribo candy factory and knifes factories (hence the name Solinger knives).
Take a ride along the Schwebebahn to Wuppertal Vohwinkel, you will pass the Wuppertal Zoo and stadion. From Vohwinkel take the Trolleybus line 683 to Solingen and you will pass along Haribo factory and different museums.

The only plus point for Wuppertal is the unique Scwebebahn suspended monorail. Well worth a ride. The place itself has deprived and dilapidated post industrial vibe, with older retired heavy industry workers and younger immigrants from all over. A fair amount of drunken/drugged indigents on the streets of the city centre.

Well if you are interested in Countryside and History then this valley of Wupper is a great place to visit. The industrial beginnings of Modern Germany pretty much starts here. We came because the suspension railway was on my bucket list. It really is a sensational marvel. We will probably come back... Even if it wasn't for this memorable trip on the Schwebebahn the town has hills and museums, an opera house and a good zoo. Oh the food is good too, try the X Kebab, a wonderful modern twist on Turkish cuisine served by the friendliest of staff...

Wuppertal schwebebahn is an awesome cheap way to explore the city. There is a lot to see and also great places to eat, like Hans im Gluck and L'Osteria and also good hiking opportunities in the surrounding hills.
Apartment was very clean and comfortable and very well equipped. Check in was very easy and we were met by the owner who showed us to the apartment and let us know about the local area and some recommendations. We had breakfast in the Cafe on the Sunday and the food was exceptionally good - definitely recommend booking in for this. Overall I would definitely recommend a stay at Cafe Landhaus. The city of Wuppertal is also worth a visit to see the suspended railway!
Clean, Modern and quiet location. A short walk 10-15 mins to Wuppertal HBF and only a few minutes to Landgericht to board the iconic Schwebebahn,a unique way of seeing the City.
Breakfast is €12:90, again a clean modern breakfast room with plenty of space and river and monorail views.
The staff were friendly and very helpful with an earlier check in request. Water, snacks, Beers Hot drinks etc available from machines near reception. Very reasonably priced.
Check in was very quick, staff was very friendly and happy to answer any questions. The room was spacious and clean! Same goes for the bathroom.
Hotel is located near the station, so everything was a short walking distance.
Breakfast was awesome, a bit on the pricy side, but the choice and quality of the food made it worth it.
And for the electric car owners; they offer complementary charging ;-)
Loved the hotel! Its location was very convenient, being close to the HBF and the city center. What I liked the most was the cute interior, especially adorned with the Christmas decorations - super cute. I also had a room with an amazing city view! The breakfast exceeded my expectations; it wasn't just a basic breakfast, but they had so much more to offer. Highly recommended!
The room was quite spacious, with a view on Wuppertal's Schwebebahn. I really like the design of these Holiday Inn Express hotels, which looks quite simple and smart, using fresh colors.
Breakfast is great, but I did not expect otherwise in a German hotel.
The location of the hotel is good, Wuppertal's main downtown area is within walking distance.
The hotel was nicely located close to famous Wuppertal Schwebebahn. A lady at the reception was really nice and gave us good touristic hints. The breakfast was very rich and the staff in the restaurant was nice and helpful. A garage with a car lift was a funny adventure and was surely exciting for the kids.
Nice apartment in a quiet but accessible area of the city. It has all the needed amenities so no need to bring anything. Also books and nice decorations.
Private parking space available if you travel with the car. Nice outdoor space if you want to spend time outside too.
the location of the hotel is really in the middle of the city, and also close to the Schwebebahn Hauftbahnhof. when we came to the hotel we received a ticket so when could use the schwebebahn(and other public transport) for free.
Amazing rooms. Very spacious and modern. Definitely one of the best hotels we stayed in Germany. Very well localized - just 5 min from the train station and the aero train. Excelente restaurants just a walking distance.
Holiday Express claims to be a "budget Hotel". The rooms are joyless but functional. The bathrooms were actually quite good. The free breakfast is not actually bad, but far from "very good" as advertised on booking.com.
All the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good, and caters for all tastes. The hotel is in the middle of Wuppertal Elberfeld, and close to all the shops, cafes and restaurants.
The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the location is good. The renovation is well-done and stylish. The room was quiet, despite the street right outside-- German windows.
The Hotel was right next to the Hauptbahnhof schwebebahn station which was super as this was my main reason for coming to Wuppertal. This was also in the main city centre.
spacious, bright, quiet room of modern decor., very clean. well placed and good number of electricity outlets, wich is not the norm even in pricier hotels.
